1.      Digital Access - According to the Digital Citizenship, Using technology appropriately (2017) “full electronic participation in society”. Those who use technology need to be made more familiar with the idea that not everyone has the same opportunities when it comes to using technology. Therefore excluding someone from the digital world would be tough, and these users need to understand that some aren’t able to access and alternative resources need to be provided. 2.    Digital commerce - According to the Digital Citizenship, Using technology appropriately (2017) “electronic buying and selling of goods”. Technology users need to understand that within the market economy there are certain legal and legitimate trading that is taking place and need to be made aware of the circumstances that follow.  Online shopping for clothes, shoes, toys etc. have become a common place for many consumers, where as there are certain things on the internet that go against the moral values of the countries, such as, illegal downloading and pornography. In short users need to ensure that they are able to make effective decisions when it comes to the digital world. (Digital citizenship, Using technology appropriately, 2017)





3.    Digital communication – According to the Digital Citizenship, Using technology appropriately (2017) “electronic exchange of information”.  One of the remarkable changes within the digital community is the ability for people to communicate with each other, this can be done by cellular, email and instant messaging. With the expansion in the digital world people are able to communicate with anyone and anywhere. With this expansion there comes a disadvantage in where users are not taught on how to make suitable decisions when it comes to social media. 4.    Digital literacy – According to the Digital Citizenship, Using technology appropriately (2017) “process of teaching and learning about technology and the use of technology”. The focus needs to be made on what technologies need to be taught and how it must be used. Learners within a digital society should be able to learn anything, anywhere at any time. For example, business, military and medicine are good examples of technology being used with today’s generation. As there are new technologies developing every day the learners need to be made aware and taught how to use them efficiently. (Digital citizenship, Using technology appropriately, 2017)





5.    Digital etiquette - According to the Digital Citizenship, Using technology appropriately (2017) “electronic standards of conduct or procedure”. People using technology have not learnt the appropriate conduct (digital etiquette). In this instance, rules and regulations are then created to stop the inappropriate use. Every user needs to become a responsible digital citizenship in today’s society. (Digital citizenship, Using technology appropriately, 2017)



6.    Digital law - According to the Digital Citizenship, Using Technology appropriately (2017) “electronic responsibility for actions and deeds”.  This element deals with the ethics of technology. The unethical view leads to theft or crime, whereas the ethical view leads to enduring the laws of society. For example, users need to understand that copying someone else’s work is a crime. Therefore there are certain rules that the users need to be made aware of before making any unethical decision. (Digital citizenship, Using technology appropriately, 2017)





7.    Digital rights and responsibilities- According to the Digital Citizenship, Using Technology appropriately (2017) “those freedoms extended to everyone in a digital world”.  Within the digital world the users are given certain rights such as the right to privacy or free speech etc. These basic rights need to be discussed and understood for the digital community work efficiently and in a productive manner. 8.    Digital health and wellness – According to the Digital Citizenship, Using technology appropriately (2017) “physical and psychological well-being in a digital technology world”. Physical issues such as eye safety, repetitive stress syndrome and sound ergonomic practices need to be spoken about as well the psychological issues such as the internet addiction. In order to protect the digital community there needs to be proper education and training to make them aware of the dangers. (Digital citizenship, Using technology appropriately, 2017)





9.    Digital security – According to the Digital Citizenship, Using technology appropriately (2017) “electronic precautions to guarantee safety”. In order to protect the digital community from the dangers of the internet we need to have virus protection, backups of data and surge control of the equipment. As a digital citizenship it is our responsibility to make sure that our personal information is protected that may cause disturbance. (Digital citizenship, Using technology appropriately, 2017)
