Heginbotham (2017) argues that users of technology and the internet has left a digital footprint. For example, when we use cell phones or bank cards we are transferring it to the server with our personal information, which makes it very difficult to remove yourself from the digital world. Heginbotham (2017) argues that your digital footprint only becomes a problem when there is something on the internet that you don’t want there, for example, an inappropriate photo.   Due to the invasion of privacy this could decrease your chance of getting a job or into university. With that being said it is also possible for your digital footprint to be useful, for connecting with old friends and having a good reputation online.
