Social capital can be defined as “the interpersonal relationships, institutions, and other social assets of a society or group that can be used to gain advantage” (Dictionary.com, [s.a]) Michellemndau (2018) argues that an active digital citizen can be beneficial towards market organisations such as Facebook, Uber and Airbnb, not only to assist themselves but rather to support other organisations in delivering their message through the various programmes that are available, and in this way the message gets delivered to many people around the world that are familiar with using the internet.
